// Head Arcade · webcam & microphone games

Games that see and hear you.

We make games that use the webcam and the microphone: they follow your hands, your face and your body, and hear the notes you play. For learning, for play and for parties, right in the browser.

01 / Our main product

Recorder Hero

Head Arcade's own game for learning music, with a site of its own: recorderhero.com.

A recorder teacher that listens. It plays each new note, guides the child's own fingers to the right holes with AR Guiding Rings™ through the camera, and hears every note through the microphone, telling which finger to fix.

02 / What we build

Play that reads the player

01

Body & face tracking

Hands, head, face and the whole body become the controller, through an ordinary webcam.

02

Sound & pitch

The microphone hears the notes a player makes, so a game can listen to a real instrument.

03

Private by design

The camera picture and the sound are worked out on the device itself. Nothing is recorded or uploaded.

04

Runs anywhere

In the web browser, on computers, tablets and phones. Nothing to install, and any game can be set up to run offline.

Gil Rimon

04 / Who's behind it

Head Arcade is run by Gil Rimon

A creative technologist, working in digital media since 1994 as one of the pioneers of the Israeli web.

Technology. Since 1999 Gil has designed and coded interactive and connected TV systems, taking on the interface, the content and the technology together. Gil co-founded UrbanSeeder, an early social network, and was chief editor of TabTale, now CrazyLabs.

Innovation. In 2011 Gil co-founded Stevie with Yael Givon, as its chief creative technologist: a social TV service that turned people's feeds into lean-back TV shows, built by engines that put the programs together automatically. Stevie was seed-funded, with Li Ka-shing's Horizons Ventures as its lead investor. It launched at TechCrunch Disrupt in New York, and in 2013 Gil pitched it at MIPTV in Cannes, where it won the MIPCube Lab innovation contest, chosen from ten finalists.

Creativity. On Israeli TV Gil wrote, edited and presented, and was head writer and editor of The Link, a series made entirely from web footage. Gil also writes and performs comedy for tech audiences.

Gil has lived in the south of Portugal since 2016. Head Arcade brings that work together: technology, entertainment and an audience that takes part.

How we work
  • Play first: the camera and the microphone are the controller, not a gimmick.
  • Private by design: the picture and the sound are worked out on the player's own device, and never recorded or uploaded.
  • Nothing to install: everything runs in the browser, and any game can be set up to work completely offline, for an event or a classroom without internet.
